The thought in the back of everyone's mind seems to be, "Well, we can always turn the Pitocin down, and if that doesn't work, we can always do an emergency c-section."

Here, the labor and delivery nurse tells it from behind the scenes:

This ticks me off to no end and I cannot believe their brashness and invasiveness. This is an abuse of power and of drugs.

The link doesn't seem to be working? Perhaps there is a glitch. Thanks.

The distress could be enough to rip the placenta off the uterine wall. Nobody who wants to keep their license to practice medicine would write such an order. HOwever, I have met Doctors who do want to increase the pitocin when everything is going find. I just say no. Sometimes this would ensure an argument and sometimes not. When I explained that they would like to keep their license to practice medicine and not be in a court of law, they usually back off.
